University Health System is implementing two new initiatives: expanding and upgrading Telehealth and Telemedicine programs to better serve the healthcare needs of the rural communities of north Louisiana; and implementing national Baby-Friendly patient care protocols – the only hospitals in north Louisiana with this standard of care to improve the health of mother and child.
University Health Shreveport, with its 452-bed hospital, is home to state-designated Centers of Excellence, including the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center and a Center of Excellence in Arthritis and Rheumatology. On the main campus there is also an accredited Children’s Hospital, a regional Burn Center, and the only Level 1 Trauma Center in north and central Louisiana. University Health Shreveport is one of only six hospitals in the nation affiliated with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
University Health Conway is a 244-bed facility that operates a 24-hour trauma center and the only provider of acute inpatient psychiatric services in northeast Louisiana. Since 2013, cardiac treatment, ophthalmology, orthopedics and vascular services have substantially increased.
