BRF’s SkillBridge Program
Through the Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge program, BRF will provide a structured pathway for service members to participate in job training and find potential employment opportunities in the private sector as they transition from active-duty service.
BRF is working to develop a regional defense industry cluster in North Louisiana. Helping transitioning service members find job training and potential employment is a part of our defense mission, which includes workforce development and retention.
Open SkillBridge positions at BRF may include internships in healthcare and research, education, digital media, startup services and recruitment, defense and more.
About SkillBridge
SkillBridge allows transitioning service members to participate in a fully funded internship or apprenticeship program with an approved civilian organization during the last 180 days of service.
The purpose of SkillBridge is to upskill or retrain separating or retiring service members in careers they’re interested in and opportunities that an employer has.
The employer pays nothing to the DoD to participate.
Any full-time, long-term employment opportunity that pays $52,000+ can begin as a SkillBridge opportunity.
Each company decides what opportunities and locations are open for SkillBridge applicants.
Service members are still service members during SkillBridge.
Service members continue to receive all their pay, benefits and allowances during SkillBridge.
The SkillBridge program offers companies access to highly skilled, dedicated individuals for up to six months at no cost. This unique opportunity not only enhances the workforce with fresh talent, but also strengthens a company’s community ties by supporting veterans in their transition to civilian careers.
By participating, companies help retain and attract top talent to North Louisiana.
