Since 2013, when the state directed LSU to find private partners to operate its public hospitals, Biomedical Research Foundation has helped drive the two hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe to new heights in patient care and access.
The system has an impact of more than $1 billion in North Louisiana’s economy, and it is the third largest non-government employer in the region. It’s still the only safety-net provider with more than 65 percent free care and Medicaid patients.

- Opened more retail pharmacies to better serve patients and employees
- Opened a new urgent care center to serve residents in North DeSoto and South Caddo parishes
- Opened a Feist-Weiller satellite cancer treatment center
- Invested more than $1 million in hospital renovations at UH Conway
- Provided more than $200 million in funding to the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport
